This is a long one from Katie in Ireland. 30th July 2001
To my dearest Grace Sullivan.
When I recieved your leter on July 30th 2001 I became extremely sexually excited! But seriously, I was really glad to hear from you & I hope you will always keep in touch.
Your letter was full of shite but I am going to inform you on the events I have experienced since arriving to Ireland. basically all I have done so far is drink. What else is there to do? All I hear on the radio and TV over here is "If your son or daughter starts drinking before the age of 15 they are far more likely to become alchoholics than someone who starts drinking at the age of 21". There isn't much hope for us then is there? Its a joke! The government found out Ireland is one of the worst countries for alcoholics and drinking. How slow are they? I was an alcoholic at 3 months!
Anyway.... The first weekend I was here I went to Cork where some of my family & friends live. Guess what happened! My cousin decided to headbut one of the country cousins (tinkers, knackers,gypsies etc. Whatever you want to call them) a week previous. Next thing anyway my cousin was drinking in Glantare & the knacker came in and threatened him with a knife. The gardai came & now the knacker is up in court with my cousin as a witness. This means he's going to be a marked man. To be honest Im scared shitless but what can I do?
Anyway the following weekend I went up town to a nightclub & I pulled believe it or not! Were not going with each other now though coz I think hes a wham bang kinda man.
The rest of my time I've spent int he pub with friends. Thats it really. I bet you cant wait to come and see me now. All we'll be doing is drinking. Im finally going to venture out and go abroad to france on the 18th August to the 25th with my friend and her family. I couldn't care less if I went or not but I think I should go to see what its like.
How have you been keeping anyway? Tell Carl I miss him! (NOT) Seriously, I was thinking the other day that maybe I was a bit mean to him. What do you think? Hows Annabelle (my spelling is incorrect isn't it?) Tell Ciara I was very cross not to have a letter from her yet. Will you come to visit soon? There are really cheap tickets on ryanair.com so fly into Kerry and Ill come & get you anytime! I might even get you up to see Edward if you'll be my sex slace for a week.
Weren't you really happy that Brian won big brother? I was nearly crying. The whole of Ireland is still celebrating. Any excuse of course. On a more serious note, there has been a lot of terrible car accidents here. Families are being wiped out. In one accident 5 people died, only the father and his three month old baby survived. That was so sad. We are all praying that they will do something to stop so many accidents happening. So far this year over 200 people have died on the roads.
I can't think of any more news at the moment. I think ill go and have a cup of tea and Ill come and finish thins letter after. Tea time 9:40pm.
Well Its 11:55pm now. That was a long cup of tea! I knwo you said if i diiddn't write back a spanking would be in store. I have written to you but could I still have the spanking? Anyway back to my news/gossip.
Did you know they are ading 50p onto packs of 20 ciggarettes? They are also going to ban packs of 10. that means it will be nearly a fiver for a pack of fags. OUTRAGEOUS! AND they want to ban smoking in pubs where hot food is being served & get rid of fag machines so you can only get them behind the bar! You have to be 18 to smoke here. BUT WHY SHOULD THAT STOP ME?
Well, I think I have talked about cigarettes for long enough. There seems to be a lot of teenage girls with babies at the moment. I'd die if that happened to me.
Do you remember d fella I was with here? (I dont want to say his name) Well I haven't seen him yet coz hes fucked off on holiday and I don't know when he's back. To be honest I don't care coz hes probably cheated a thousand times. He better not think ill be sitting waiting for him!
Im staying with my Auntie and Uncle at the moment till my family come home. My auntie and Uncle wee in Chicago for 10 days so I had the house to myself. My nan was here (coz she lives here) but she diddn't give a shite if I was out all day & right so I had a brilliant 10 days of freedom!
Grace, Ive noticed my letters are consideraly longer than your so you better get writing and fast. I was thinking of taking Ciara to court for pretending to be a builder. Do you think its worth it? I could say she was a con woman. Anyway Im going to finish this now coz Ive told you loads of stuff. I miss you loads! Hope you write back straight away. I DID.
